Weekend property links

It’s Saturday, and if you’re not busy house hunting or heading to the beach, then you must be at the computer :). So here’s my modest contribution to your weekend reading:

Renovation resulting in breathtaking bay views @ Domain.com.au: A couple decided to renovate their home, but the project ended up being a complete rebuild, leaving just two original walls. It took two years from start to finish, and the results speak for themselves – don’t miss the amazing photos or the video in that article.

How to renovate with young children on site @ Somersoft.com forums: Anyone who has kids will agree that keeping them safe under normal conditions is not an easy job. How do you do that when your house is one big construction site? In this post a couple is sharing some good advice that helped them avoid accidents and keep the children unharmed during a 6-week reno project.

Renters beware: online scam @ Perthnow.com.au: Scammers have begun targeting potential tenants in Western Australia, offering them deals that seem too good to be true (luxury properties in great locations for a fraction of the cost). According to one of the comments on that article the same scam has hit Melbourne.

White roofs are energy savers @ News.com.au : According to a study by the University of Melbourne, if a residential building’s roof were painted white it would reduce the heat in the roof cavity by 20 per cent. Even though people whose roofs are insulated won’t feel a change in the temperature inside the house, as Dr Hes said, I still think about all of the home owners who don’t have roof insulation – just by painting their roofs white they could achieve a much more comfortable temperature inside the house.

What’s the most interesting article you’ve read this week?

White roofs are energy savers article is really a good plan, I liked. I personally think if shopping malls, hospitals and other public institutes use this then we can save a lot of energy.
