Mortein pest control products

UPDATE: the giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winners – Di and Mick G, who left their comments below this post.

When I was little I was freaked by cockroaches. Whenever I’d see one I’d run away screaming and I wouldn’t go back until a grown-up came to my rescue and dealt with the scary thing. Fast forward 30 years and now spiders scare the daylights out of me. But… I’m a grown-up myself now, so there’s no one to save me!

That’s why I always keep one of these within an arm’s reach:

We went camping and it started to rain.We were in a shack in the middle of nowhere, really out bush.Suddenly one spider, two spiders, a whole swarm of huge black ugly spiders crept under the door to escape the downpour.I have never seen so many people, men included jump up onto any available furniture to escape the spiders!.Needless to say everyone slept in their cars and we had to use five cans of spray before anyone would venture into the shack at night…

In my teens, life size poster on my bedroom wall of my idol and out of nowhere a MASSIVE huntsman appeared with it’s legs opened all over the face on the poster. I’m getting goosebumps right now typing this, having to think about it. This Huntsman was seriously the Grand-Daddy 0f them all, disgustingly enormous. Like HUGELY massively, enormously, enormous. Thank God Dad was home and caught the stupid thing. Ewww, I’m re-living the moment as I type this, all these years on.
I screamed like I was getting murdered, in came Dad and captured the wretched beastie.

Getting into a red hot shower, loving every second of it, feeling the water running down my body and that extra something else sliding down my body that I dismissed as an overactive imagination. Then to look down and see the biggest spider of all time, curled up in a ball ON MY FOOT, EWWWWW, HAVING SLID DOWN MY NAKED BODY, EWWWWWWWWeWWWWWW. The scariest experience of all time, standing there, in the shower, helpless and naked, screaming for anyone to come and help me, to get it out 🙁

When I got my first car many years ago, I was driving with my friend along a busy road at night. I noticed something crawling across the screen and to my horror it was a spider. I hard a hard time controlling the car when I discovered it was on the inside. I stopped the car on a side street and flapped a jumper about, we were both on edge till the end of our journey!

Something very similar happened to me!!! I stopped the car (luckily I was just 2 streets away from home) and ran to the house to get some Mortein to spray the bloody monster!

I had had an accident in my car and was without it for nearly two weeks. Happy to pick it up and get my freedom back. It was later in the afternoon, the sun was a bit glary, so I pulled down the visor. And two spiders fell out on me. They were a couple of plastic spiders I had left in the car, and I guess the crash repairers thought they would play a little trick. It would have mis-fired badly as I nearly had another accident!

When I put my hand out to turn off the light in the bathroom, and sitting on the light switch was a huntsman spider. I touched him, and it was only then I realised what it was and all of a sudden I went into a panic, started shaking and calling out to my husband to “please help me”. He did but I was so scared.

One day I was playing video game. I was totally engrossed in it. All of a sudden, I saw something creeping on my table. Without second thought, I sprayed a bug, turned to be my brother’s robot spider. It stopped moving. He told our mum that I killed the robot spider with the spray. It’s not scary. I thought I would share.

I opened the door of the shed one night to get something and went to turn on the light. On the light switch right beside the switch was a huge huntsman spider. God did I ever scream!

My eldest daughter started yelling “spider”, I ran into the hall to find my younger daughter leaning over something huge, I started screaming, grabbed her and jumped up on the seats in the hall freaking out, my eldest realised I was a mess and started yelling “It’s fake, its a joke” – needless to say not amused (at least until I calmed down a little, then it was quite funny)

On another note, my daughter is reading a book at school called “Eek its a bee” that sounds a lot like the car stories above but with a bee. The mum ends of spraying it with insect spray and sitting outside the car until it dies

I was out the farm for a bbq tea with my Nanna and Pappa and some other family members. They are all well aware of my spider phobia, so Pappa though it would be a good idea to scare the living daylights out of me. I was sitting by the fire and it was just as the sun was starting to set, without me knowing Pappa was sneaky enough to put one of those black plastic spiders on my arm without me knowing. So Nanna yells oh my god what is that on your arm, I looked down and freaked out, fell backwards off my chair and was almost in tears. Mind you I was about 20 at the time. So embarrassing!

When I was young, I walked under a tree and through a spiderweb. The spider sat on my nose, it’s legs either side of my nose, and it’s eyes just staring at me. I was in shock and will never be a friend of any spider!

I wasunpacking my bag when I got home from a camping trip and grabbed a huge huntsman thinking it to be a wayward cotton ball. I didn’t know I had hold of a spider until I opened my hand.

In the warmer weather we constantly have huntsman spiders invading our house. Several Summers ago, I kept waking up with small bite marks on my arm, legs or stomach which looked like Huntsman bites… but there was no Hunstman to be seen! It was only after about two weeks that I was taking a poster above my bed down, I found the GIANT mother Hunstman and the egg sac she had chosen to create behind it D= turns out she had been defending her eggs, coming out every night to bite me. Arghhh! Thank goodness I got to the egg sac before they hatched! 😮

I have had the dreaded Huntsman’s run across my bare feet whilst driving and scuttle under my bed but by far the worst was years ago at the Drive-in. A girlfriend and I were watching a horror movie in the vein of ‘Chucky’, simply awful movie and after each conquest, Chucky’s victim appeared as a ghostly shadow on the staircase wall. As Chucky came in for one of his thrill kills, a giant Huntsman, the size of the Titanic stretched its legs out over the windscreen and no such luck as him being outside, he was in with us. After some anguished yells, I managed to flick him away into the lap of my friend, fresh screams and finally we managed to get it outside. We were then evicted for disturbing the peace!

Hubbys parents live near bushland, so they have a huge assortment of wildlife. When we were staying at their place, I went to go and have a shower. I turned the shower on, turned away, turned back and this ENORMOUS huntsman came crawling out of the shower behind me. I screamed and ran out of the room and into the next one. I looked around and there was another one in this room. I ran into the biggest room in the house so that I could see if there was anything else crawling around, and THEN realised I was in the nuddy. Not my day, that was certain!
